Conference
We conducted “National Conference on Mathematical Modelling and Applications” on 28th March 2014. Participants from other colleges were invited for paper presentation. The Conference provided a platform for strengthening mathematical research and turned out to be an opportunity for the participants to know the emerging areas of research.
Faculty Development Programme
Faculty Development programme (FDP) provides the opportunities for young faculty to update their knowledge and teaching skills. “Instead of giving the man fish, teach him how to catch a fish” is an old proverb. According to this, instead of working out 1000 problems, teach the student how to solve a problem – should be the new proverb with respect to mathematics teaching. This course was an attempt in that direction. We conducted two “Faculty Development Training programmes “Transforms and Partial Differential Equations – MA2211” from 23rd to 29th June 2014 (7 days) and Mathematics – I – MA6151” from 16th to 22th June 2015 (7 days) which were approved by Anna University, Chennai (Self Supporting Scheme).
The FDPs addressed the challenges in teaching various concepts of Transforms and Partial Differential Equations and Mathematics-I relevant to different Engineering disciplines and laid a strong foundation in the subjects building up confidence and clarity to the faculty through illustrative examples and interesting applications.
Co-curricular activities
First year students, B. Kodeeswaran and T.Prasanth won the first prize in paper presentation in one day “National Level Technical Symposium” organized by Nehru Institute of Technology, Coimbatore on 7th Feb 2015 and the same team, won the second prize in puzzle hunt in “National Level Mathematical Symposium” organized by M.Kumarasamy College of Engineering, Karur on 30th Jan 2015.
